Toddler politics in the Chamber
WHILE Jo Swinson’s baby son Gabriel seemed happy to tolerate the Lib Dem East Dunbartonshire MP sitting in the House of Commons during his feed last week, Nationalist MP Alison Thewliss’s daughter Kirstie was less accommodating. The Nationalist MP for Glasgow Central posted pictures of her determined child dragging her away from the Chamber on an earlier occasion as she was trying to vote – perhaps in a bid to save her mother from herself? Miss Swinson sympathised, tweeting: ‘Love it! It’s that authentic toddler uncontrollability.’ Not to be confused, of course, with the authentic uncontrollability of our politicians.
AS a Lib Dem spinner, he got the party’s Scottish leader Willie Rennie to wrestle with a rambunctious ram, slide down a soft play slide and do a live TV interview in front of some rather amorous pigs. Tim Hustler then found himself a new job with the Macmillan cancer charity, but last week he was back at Holyrood, getting MSPs to pose with giant cardboard cut-outs of cups of coffee. Does anyone still believe there’s a serious side to politics?
