Lovejoy star ‘Tinker’ dies aged 85
ACTOR Dudley Sutton, best known for playing Tinker Dill in the long-running TV series Lovejoy, has died aged 85.
His agent Natasha Stevenson said the actor died yesterday afternoon surrounded by friends and family.
Sutton, right, starred opposite Ian McShane in the comedy-drama throughout its run from 1986 to 1994.
He played antiques expert Dill, a dandy who was known for his berets and bow ties.
His other television appearances included a Christmas episode of BBC sitcom Porridge and an instalment of ITV crime drama The Sweeney.
Later, he had a recurring role as conman Wilfred Atkins in EastEnders and smaller parts in Holby City and teenage drama Skins.
