Love­joy star ‘Tinker’ dies aged 85

AC­TOR Dud­ley Sut­ton, best known for play­ing Tinker Dill in the long-run­ning TV se­ries Love­joy, has died aged 85.

His agent Natasha Stevenson said the ac­tor died yes­ter­day af­ter­noon sur­rounded by friends and fam­ily.

Sut­ton, right, starred op­po­site Ian McShane in the com­edy-drama through­out its run from 1986 to 1994.

He played an­tiques ex­pert Dill, a dandy who was known for his berets and bow ties.

His other tele­vi­sion ap­pear­ances in­cluded a Christ­mas episode of BBC sit­com Por­ridge and an in­stal­ment of ITV crime drama The Sweeney.

Later, he had a re­cur­ring role as con­man Wil­fred Atkins in Eas­tEn­ders and smaller parts in Holby City and teenage drama Skins.
