Necessary waste
As a retired pharmacy technician, I would like to respond to recent letters about plastic blister strips (above) being wasteful. Actually the strips have an important role in protecting tablets from exposure to air and moisture. Once that medication is removed from packaging, it will start to degrade and the expiry date stated on the packet can no longer apply. Surely we don’t want to go back to those days where everything had to be individually counted. Imagine how long the waiting time will be for your prescription to be dispensed.
