Dabour praises Bhoys’ back line

- By Graeme Croser

UNIQUELY placed to offer a comparison between RB Leipzig and Celtic, Moanes Dabour comes to an unlikely conclusion regarding the Scottish champions.

Asked for an observation on his club’s Europa League Group B rivals, the Red Bull Salzburg striker cites defensive organisation as the main virtue of Brendan Rodgers’ team.

Dabour scored twice in a 3-1 victory for the Austrian side over Celtic earlier this month, a night that had Rodgers bemoaning the individual errors that contributed to another European defeat for his team.

Rodgers’ frustration stretches back even further than the mistakes that saw his team tumble out of the Champions League qualifiers to AEK Athens but Dabour benefits from a different perspective.

The Israeli pounced on a loose ball to score his team’s first on the night and later added another from the penalty spot but, after scoring a slick opener through Odsonne Edouard, the Scottish champions had managed to frustrate their hosts for nearly an hour.

Group leaders Salzburg also beat Leipzig on the opening night and Dabour believes the Bundesliga outfit will not find it easy as they welcome Celtic to Germany on Thursday.

‘We have had a great start with six points from six,’ said Dabour, who is now relishing his side’s double-header with Rosenborg. ‘That’s a big achievement because Celtic and Leipzig are really tough opponents. They are Champions League teams.

‘They play with completely different styles. Leipzig are more of a pressing team and they play a faster game than Celtic.

‘Celtic are well organised in defence — they made it tough for us to break them down and they also have some very quick players.’
