MITROVIC HELPS GIVE RANIERI A PERFECT START AT FULHAM

-

TWO goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic proved decisive as Claudio Ranieri picked up three points in his first game in charge of Fulham with a 3-2 win over Southampton.

Stuart Armstrong had put Saints ahead at Craven Cottage on 18 minutes before Mitrovic equalised 15 minutes later.

Andre Schurrle gave Fulham the lead two minutes before half-time but Armstrong got his second early in the second half.

However, Mitrovic would have the last laugh, lifting Fulham off bottom spot and into 19th.

The match-winner said: ‘Massive day for us and a massive win. It has been a while but the winning feeling is back.

‘There has been just 10 days with the manager and we need to continue like this.’

Everton moved into the top six after a 1-0 win over Cardiff at Goodison Park.

Gylfi Sigurdsson’s second-half strike proved the difference after Neil Etheridge had saved Theo Walcott’s initial effort.

Brighton and Leicester could not be separated at the Amex Stadium after Jamie Vardy’s late penalty secured a 1-1 draw.

Brighton had earlier taken the lead through Glenn Murray before James Maddison was given his marching orders following two quickfire yellow cards — the second seemingly for simulation.

But 11 minutes from full-time, Vardy drew the Foxes level from the penalty spot.
