She’s still dreaming the dream... Stacey’s Les Mis lights up Strictly

SHE had never danced before but is now being tipped as the eventual winner of Strictly. And last night in the quarter-finals, Stacey Dooley again showed how much she’s learnt, performing an American Smooth to I Dreamed A Dream.

Partnered with dancer Kevin Clifton, the television reporter – who had been the rank outsider before the series began – turned on the style for the number from Les Miserables, scoring 38 out of 40.

The six remaining couples were battling it out to show tunes in a musicals special.

Steps star Faye Tozer and her partner Giovanni Pernice scored a maximum 40 points for their Charleston to The Lonely Goatherd from The Sound of Music.

Before last night’s show Tozer admitted she had been getting tips from Debbie McGee who, with Pernice last year, made it all the way to the final. But the singer insisted her previous experience as a pop star has not given her an unfair advantage. She said: ‘I do have dance experience and I can probably pick up routines fairly quickly but the moves in Steps aren’t quite ballroom.

‘There has always been people of different sorts of abilities and I guess until you get in the room and do the choreography you don’t know how you are going to do.’
