Driver killed by 2 buses

A BUS driver was killed af­ter re­port­edly be­ing hit by two buses in a freak ac­ci­dent.

The tragedy hap­pened at the McGill’s Buses de­pot in John­stone, Ren­frew­shire, shortly be­fore 1am on Fri­day.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions into the in­ci­dent were con­tin­u­ing yes­ter­day af­ter the 43-year-old was ap­par­ently hit by one bus be­fore be­ing struck by an­other a mat­ter of sec­onds later.

Emer­gency ser­vices took the in­jured man to the Royal Alexan­dra Hos­pi­tal in Pais­ley, but he later lost his fight for life.

A Po­lice Scot­land spokesman said: ‘Around 12.50am, po­lice were called to a 43-year-old man se­ri­ously in­jured at Cochrane­mill Road yard. He was taken to the Royal Alexan­dra in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion and died a short time later.’

The Health and Safety Ex­ec­u­tive and the Driver and Ve­hi­cle Stan­dards Agency have been made aware of the ac­ci­dent.

McGill’s Buses was yes­ter­day unavail­able for com­ment.
