WHEN they were partners on Strictly Come Dancing, he whipped her into shape with a gruelling training regime of constant foxtrots and cha-cha-chas.

Now Judy Murray has vowed to get her revenge on Anton du Beke – when she partners him in a charity tennis match.

She has even been giving him a dose of his own medicine with a series of punishing prematch practice sessions. The mother of Scots tennis ace Andy told The Scottish Mail on Sunday: ‘There’s a lot of pressure on Anton. He will know what it’s like to do something that you are not very good at in front of a big crowd. It’s a little bit of payback.’

Mrs Murray and du Beke will play doubles together today at London’s Royal Albert Hall, against her eldest son Jamie and TV presenter Helen Skelton. Last night du Beke said: ‘Judy has been putting us through our paces with a series of gruelling drills to improve our game, and it’s fair to say that after everything I put her through for Strictly she’s been loving having the dancing shoe on the other foot.’

As she reflected on dancing with du Beke in the 2015 season of Strictly, Mrs Murray said: ‘I was so rubbish, very wooden and very stiff.

‘When I watched the shows afterwards I wished I could have danced better, performed better and been more relaxed.’
