Nat netted as fishers’ friend

-

WITH the SNP and Tories vying for the title of Fisherman’s Friend, is it wise for the fishermen themselves to take sides? Dog smelt something fishy when Nicola Sturgeon quoted a spokesman for the Scottish Creel Fishermen’s Federation saying he ‘really wouldn’t trust the Tories as far as I could throw them’. And it seems the federation has something bigger than a lobster in its pots – during the Holyrood EU debate last week, Brexit Secretary Mike Russell admitted he was its honorary president. So is there a quota for SNP Ministers, or could they all soon be part of the fishermen’s catch? After losing the 2016 EU referendum, and then quitting Number 10 to leave others to plot the tricky Brexit path, David Cameron’s fan club has not been bulging with new members. However, Andrew Bowie’s admiration is undimmed. ‘Delighted with the new portrait hung outside my door the House of Commons... David Cameron – the reason I joined the Conservatives,’ the MP for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine beamed last week.
