First Minister in need of fast car

The Scottish Mail on Sunday - - Peter Hitchens -

AS Nicola Sturgeon fought for her life at First Minister’s Questions over the botched Scottish Government inquiry into allegations against former leader Alex Salmond, you might have expected her backbenchers to cheer her on as she came under fire from Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard. But Midlothian North and Musselburgh MSP Colin Beattie was engrossed in his smartphone, viewing cars on Facebook Marketplace. Perhaps he was searching for a fast getaway vehicle to get his leader out of trouble.

THE bungled Salmond probe has left many wondering if the Scottish Government could use a good lawyer or two. Adverts are out for legal trainees to join the government team, but is the bar set too high? Under essential criteria, requirement number one is a ‘knowledge of public law’. If only more people on the Government payroll had such knowledge.
