Driver killed in crash as bus hits bridge on High­land road

A BUS driver has been killed and three pas­sen­gers se­ri­ously in­jured in a crash in the High­lands.

The 50-year-old man died af­ter a Stage­coach bus trav­el­ling from In­ver­ness to Cro­marty hit a bridge and over­turned on the B9161 near Mun­lochy on the Black Isle around 5.40pm on Fri­day.

Three of the nine pas­sen­gers re­main in a se­ri­ous but stable con­di­tion at Raig­more Hos­pi­tal in In­ver­ness, while the oth­ers suf­fered mi­nor in­juries. Po­lice have ap­pealed for any­one with in­for­ma­tion about the crash to come for­ward.

Mean­while, a woman has died fol­low­ing a three-ve­hi­cle crash in South La­nark­shire.

Mary Lo­gan, 62, from La­nark, was taken to hos­pi­tal af­ter her Peu­geot Bip­per van col­lided with a Ford Fo­cus and a Jeep on the A73 near Thanker­ton around 4.50pm last Wed­nes­day.

Her death from her in­juries was con­firmed by po­lice yes­ter­day.
