40% of families break rules on term-time trips

-

FOUR in ten parents have taken their child out of school during term time to save money on a holiday, research has revealed.

Despite the threat of a fine, mums and dads are willing to run the risk as the savings can be more than the fine itself.

The poll found 41 per cent of parents have been on a short break with their children during term time and, of those who admitted it, seven in ten informed their child’s school of their plans and were not fined.

However, 13 per cent said that although they had told their child’s headteacher, they were still fined, the survey for travel website Kayak found.
