Caldwell hails Thistle win

- By Graeme Macpherson

THIS turned out to be a good day for Partick Thistle. A first home league win since early December combined with Falkirk failing to defeat Inverness Caley Thistle served to lift them off the foot of the Championship.

‘It’s another win and the first time the club’s gone through a calendar month unbeaten since January 2017,’ said Jags boss Gary Caldwell.

‘That tells you everything about where we’re going and how we’re progressing.’

Joe Cardle stabbed home the opener from close range on 18 minutes and Thistle deservedly doubled their lead after 55 minutes through Miles Storey.

The home side needed that second goal as Stephen Dobbie netted his 34th goal of the season from the penalty spot after 80 minutes but Thistle held on.
