Baker seeks UK buyer

- Ben Harrington

THE company that provides McDonalds with its burger buns is weighing up a sale of its UK logistics operation.

City sources said IrishSwiss food giant Aryzta was talking to potential buyers.

KPMG is understood to be advising Aryzta on a sale, which could value the unit at £10million to £20million.

Aryzta Food Solutions UK is behind muffin and cookie brand Otis Spunkmeyer, high-end frozen patisserie brand Coup de Pates and French baked goods brand Cuisine de France.

Aryzta, which calls itself the largest frozen bakery company in the world, was founded in 1897 as the Irish Co-operative Agricultural Agency Society. It merged with Hiestand in 2008.

Aryzta said only: ‘Cuisine de France is not for sale.’
