England stars are given a social media warning

-

ATHLETICS: Steph Twell won the European 10,000metres Cup in London last night.

The 29-year-old Scot was left in a two-way battle with Israel’s Lonah Chemtai after the duo finally shook off the challenge of Eilish McColgan.

But Twell held on to put herself in sixth place in the UK’s all-time list by clocking 31 minutes 08.14 seconds.

RUGBY UNION: England’s stars have been told to ‘think it but don’t say it’ at the World Cup.

Players’ agents were briefed at a seminar at Twickenham on Tuesday by RFU director Nigel Melville and leading sports media lawyer Matt Himsworth.

In light of the recent Israel Folau homophobia storm — in which No 8 Billy Vunipola (above) became heavily involved — players’ Twitter and Instagram activity will be closely monitored.

Eddie Jones intends to address the issue with his squad when they gather in camp today. Addressing the comments of Vunipola, who recently got married in Tonga, Jones said: ‘I think that’s done and dusted now. So when Billy comes in on Sunday he is a married man, he’s on England duty and we expect him to follow the values of the team.’ RUGBY LEAGUE: Warrington consolidated second place in the Betfred Super League with a comfortable 36-6 win at London Broncos yesterday. Catalans Dragons moved into fifth with a 44-10 thrashing of Wakefield Trinity, who remain eighth.

DARTS: Englishman Nathan Aspinall won his first major title as he surprisingly beat compatriot Michael Smith 8-4 in the final of the United States Masters at the Mandalay Bay resort in Las Vegas.
