Sex attack on music fan at TRNSMT

- By Ashlie McAnally

A FEMALE reveller was dragged behind toilets and sexually assaulted during the TRNSMT music festival.

The 32-year-old was attacked at around 10pm on Friday, during British rapper Stormzy’s headline set at the event, on Glasgow Green.

She was making her way to toilets, believed to be near the main stage, when a man pulled her behind the block. Another man then sexually assaulted her. Last night, Detective Sergeant Euan Keil, of Stewart Street Police Office, said: ‘Her attackers fled when they were disturbed by three men who were walking by the area and who shouted at them.

‘I don’t think the three men realised what was actually going on or that their intervention probably stopped this attack from escalating. It is important that we trace them as what they saw could prove vital to us catching the two men responsible.’

Both suspects are white, 6ft tall, with medium builds and dark hair. One was wearing a black T-shirt with a small logo on the front and the other a white T-shirt with black writing.

A statement from TRNSMT said: ‘We are doing everything possible to help emergency services with their inquiries but our focus at this moment is the well-being of the person involved. We are ensuring that they have all the support that they need.’

Police said 13 people had been arrested for a range of offences at TRNSMT on Friday, including breach of the peace and drugs crimes. The festival finishes today.

There were also 17 drug seizures from festival-goers on Friday.

Last year on the first day of TRNSMT, there were eight arrests and 34 people reported for drug use.
