Kim Cattrall: My brother’s suicide has left me broken

- By Padraic Flanagan

SINCE the tragic death of Kim Cattrall’s brother nearly 18 months ago, there has been much speculation about the cause. And today, the Sex And The City actress reveals for the first time that Christopher Cattrall took his own life – and that his death has left her ‘broken’.

In an exclusive interview with The Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine, Kim, 62, says: ‘When you lose someone to suicide, there is always the question, “If I could only have, if I was only…” and it haunts you.

‘You have to learn to live with those endless questions, the endless guilt, because there is nothing you can do to change it. It breaks you. It is so hard.’

Kim had previously revealed only that her brother, 55, had died unexpectedly after going missing from the home in Canada that he shared with his wife and seven dogs. ‘Christopher was a sweet man who was quiet about his needs and wants and that is how he died. It is unbearably sad,’ she says.

In the months after Christopher’s death, Liverpoolborn Kim came back to Britain to visit relatives but has since returned to work. Her latest film, Horrible Histories: The Movie – Rotten Remains, is released later this month but she has ruled out making a third Sex And The City movie.

The actress, who played man-eater Samatha Jones in the drama, has been locked in a longrunning feud with co-star Sarah Jessica Parker.

Asked about the prospect of another Sex And The City film, Kim says: ‘It’s a no from me. You learn lessons in life and my lesson is to do work with good people and try to make it fun.’
