Priti fury at Twitter videos

-

FURIOUS Home Secretary Priti Patel has demanded Twitter take down dramatic videos of London Bridge attacker Usman Khan being shot dead, Harry Cole writes.

She contacted social media firms directly on Friday evening to warn they had a ‘duty of care’ to protect users and avoid copycat attacks.

A source close to the Home Secretary said last night: ‘Social media firms need to start taking their responsibilities to public safety a lot more seriously. The Home Secretary ordered officials to immediately contact communications service providers and remind them of their duty of care in the aftermath of the horrific attack.’

The source added: ‘It’s unacceptable that they allow videos of terror attacks to circulate, potentially encouraging copycat attacks in the aftermath...

‘We will be looking at what more can be done to hold the likes of Twitter and Facebook to account.’
