Cannabis raises cancer risk for men
MEN who regularly smoke cannabis increase their risk of developing testicular cancer by a third, according to a study by US experts.
Revealing their findings in the monthly journal of the American Medical Association, the scientists wrote: ‘Regular marijuana use was associated with development of testicular germ cell tumours.’
They added: ‘Sustained marijuana use may increase the risk for testicular cancer.’
They said long-term cannabis users were 36 per cent more likely to have developed testicular cancer than similar men who did not use the drug.
