Scots ‘the angriest drivers in the UK’

- By Paul Drury

IT is the kind of poll a nation does not want to top – but Scots are said to be the angriest drivers in Britain.

More than a fifth of us (21 per cent) have admitted to exhibiting one or more of typical ‘road rage’ behaviours in the past month.

These include winding down the window to swear at other drivers, making offensive gestures, tailgating and honking the horn.

The survey of 2,000 drivers across the UK was carried out by motoring charity Brake, in conjunction with technology company Garmin.

Only Yorkshire drivers matched the bad manners of Scots. Those from the South West of England were the most placid, with just 13 per cent confessing to a fit of road rage in the past month.

Londoners were surprisingly low in the league table, at 15 per cent.

Other hot spots where drivers admitted to road rage were Wales and North West England (both 20 per cent) and the West Midlands (19 per cent).

Bad behaviour was admitted to by only 16 per cent of motorists in the South East, 15 per cent in the East Midland and 14 per cent in the East of England.
