DORAN’S SUPER STRIKE LIFTS INVERNESS INTO SECOND SPOT
INVERNESS jumped into second spot in the Championship after seeing off Alloa Athletic.
Caley Thistle boss John Robertson said: ‘It was one of the best games I’ve seen in a long time. Our first goal was a bit of a fluke, but the second was a great finish by Aaron Doran.’
The deadlock was broken on 38 minutes when a long clearance from Inverness’s Coll Donaldson was headed into his own net by Alloa’s Scott Taggart.
They got the decisive second on the stroke of half-time, Doran rifling a shot home from 18 yards.
The Wasps were reduced to 10 men on the hour mark when Liam Dick saw red for a terrible tackle on James Keatings.
Alloa boss Peter Grant said: ‘I thought we were outstanding but goals change games, and the timing of the goals wasn’t ideal.’
