Hand in hand walking home from the Co-op, Little Woman Saoirse and the Scots co-star she denied dating
IT’S a look of love – and it seems to confirm the whispers that Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan and screen heart-throb Jack Lowden are more than just movie co-stars.
Ms Ronan, star of hit film Little Women, and Lowden, her on-screen husband in the 2018 movie Mary Queen Of Scots, were spotted strolling hand-in-hand after a trip to the Co-op store near her flat in West London.
Our exclusive picture comes weeks after the 25-year-old Irish star insisted she was not in a relationship with Scots actor Lowden, 29.
They shared steamy sex scenes in Mary Queen of Scots, with Ms Ronan in the title role, while he played the queen’s husband, Lord Darnley.
Rumours began just over a year ago when the pair were seen looking ‘extremely close’ at a party in New York. But Ms Ronan denied that
Lowden, who was brought up in Oxton, Berwickshire, was her boyfriend.
Asked last month if they were in a relationship, she replied: ‘Noooo…’
Lowden meanwhile has been tightlipped about their friendship, saying last February: ‘I don’t like talking about that side of life.’
Ms Ronan is favourite to win the Best Actress Oscar next month for her portrayal of iron-willed Jo March in Little Women, based on the much-loved classic novel by Louisa May Alcott.
The role has already earned her a Best Actress nomination at the Bafta awards.
Lowden is carving his own career, with roles in war epic Dunkirk and the BBC’s adaptation of War And Peace.
Ms Ronan has admitted her performance in Little Women was inspired by Scots star Dougie Henshall in BBC detective drama Shetland.
She said: ‘My friend and I were watching it and we said, “He just says the lines and never does too much. He just lets it happen. How does he do that?”’
She said she had copied his manner in Little Women, adding: ‘I remember I would go away in-between takes and I would sit on the stairs and I just felt so calm.’
