So just where is your Indy blueprint, Nicola?

NICOLA Sturgeon has failed to deliver an independence blueprint to every home in Scotland – a key promise to party members.

Plans for the document, An Independent Scotland – A Household Guide, were unveiled in a conference speech last spring.

The SNP leader claimed it would be a compelling argument for breaking up the 313-year-old Union, saying: ‘We will now launch the biggest campaign on the economics of independence in our party’s history.

‘We aim to get information on Scotland’s potential into the hands of every voter. Our plan is to distribute An Independent Scotland – A Household Guide to every home across the country – all 2.4 million of them.’

Almost nine months later, the only reference to the document is on the YesScot Facebook page, beside a link so independence supporters can donate cash.

Last night, an SNP insider said: ‘I don’t think it ever went out. I certainly haven’t received one, and I don’t know anyone else who received one. It’s too early. Work has not been done to revise the White Paper from 2014.’

Ms Sturgeon had hoped to have a referendum by the end of 2020.

She has also promised more pamphlets – this time funded by the taxpayer, rather than SNP supporters – called New Scotland.

Last night, Scottish Tory chief whip Maurice Golden said: ‘At a time when the SNP is failing in almost every metric on the economy, education, health and justice, Nicola Sturgeon’s answer is to print more dubious leaflets.

‘Her vanity project is merely a distraction from the real issues facing Scotland today.’

Pamela Nash, of campaign group Scotland in Union, said: ‘Nicola Sturgeon is making promises designed to keep her supporters happy and distract the wider public from her failings in office.’

No one from the SNP responded to questions about the pamphlet.

But deputy leader Keith Brown said: ‘There is an unstoppable momentum behind a fresh independence referendum.’
