Dermot: At last we are having a baby
TV PRESENTER Dermot O’Leary last night revealed that he is expecting his first child with wife Dee Koppang – five years after speaking about his desire to start a family.
The X Factor host told fans on Instagram that ‘Koppang O’Leary productions’ would be welcoming a new arrival in the coming months. The 46-year-old wrote: ‘We’re pleased to announce that we’re expecting a little Koppang O’Leary.’
TV producer and director Ms Koppang, 41, shared the same post before the couple appeared on the red carpet at a party for Bafta nominees in London.
Their celebrity friends were quick to offer congratulations. This Morning host Holly Willoughby wrote on social media: ‘This is just such wonderful news… love you both.’ Holly’s co-star Ruth Langsford added: ‘How wonderful!’
In 2015, three years after marrying Ms Koppang in Kent, O’Leary spoke of his desire to start a family.
‘I definitely want kids, but I’ve got a very busy wife with a very busy life,’ he said. ‘I want them when we both think it’s the right thing to happen.
‘Circumstances and life takes over and, before you know it, you haven’t seen each other properly for a week or two.’
O’Leary, who will co-present the Baftas red carpet arrivals at the Royal Albert Hall tonight, met Ms Koppang in 2002 at a TV production company where they both worked.
