VAMPIRE REPELLENT? IT’S A LOAD OF GOOP
THE mismatched fight of the decade kicked off last week when the head of the NHS in England, Simon Stevens, took on Hollywood A-lister and ‘lifestyle guru’ Gwyneth Paltrow.
Ms Paltrow’s wellness company, Goop, has launched a TV show on Netflix and the health chief isn’t pleased, saying it poses a ‘considerable health risk’ because of the ‘dodgy procedures’ it advertises.
Mr Stevens goes on to say that new media creates ‘particularly fertile ground for quacks, charlatans and cranks’.
Hitting back, a spokeswoman for Goop said the company covers ‘emerging topics that may be unsupported by science’. Given that Goop promotes psychic vampire repellent and DIY coffee enema machines, I think I’m on team Stevens with this one.
