Dott hopes dashed by Trump in Berlin

-

SNOOKER: Judd Trump is through to today’s final of the BetVictor German Masters after a 6-4 defeat of Scotland’s Graeme Dott in Berlin yesterday.

Veteran Dott, down to No20 in the world rankings, has been enjoying a bit of a resurgence in recent months but he could not keep his run going.

The players were level at 2-2 at the mid-session interval but Trump (above) eventually prevailed.

The current world champion is yet to win Germany’s most prestigious event, although he was runner-up to Ding Junhui in 2014.

His opponent in today’s final is Neil Robertson, who thrashed Shaun Murphy 6-1 in last night’s second semifinal.

The Aussie is in fine form, having won last week’s European Masters title in Austria with a 9-0 whitewash of China’s Zhou Yuelong.

ATHLETICS: Jemma Reekie smashed the British indoor 800metres record in Glasgow yesterday. Reekie, competing in the Scottish Masters at the Emirates Arena, bolted past training partner Laura Muir on the final lap to clock 1:57.91.

DARTS: Newly crowned world champion Peter Wright reached the second round of the PDC Masters in Milton Keynes. He beat Joe Cullen 10-7. Also through is Gary Anderson, a 10-8 winner over

Ian White.
