Brook back with a bang in Sheffield

Kell Brook made a winning return to the ring by knocking out American Mark DeLuca in the seventh round in his home town of Sheffield last night.

Brook, who had spent 14 months out of the ring, dominated former US marine DeLuca, 31, from the start in their WBO inter-continental super-welterweight title fight.

He knocked his opponent down in the third round before a shuddering left hook ended the bout in the seventh.

Meanwhile, Scotland’s Hannah Rankin also landed a knockout in her first fight since losing the IBO super-welterweight title in November.

The 29-year-old stopped Serb Eva Bajic after one minute and 51 seconds of the third round at Paisley’s Lagoon Centre.
