Wine-swilling driver is jailed

A MOTORIST who smashed into several vehicles after his bonnet flipped up was nearly seven times the limit.

David Macdonald, 44, hit oncoming cars on the wrong side of the road before he stopped and emerged from his vehicle holding a bottle of wine.

Macdonald, of Kirriemuir, Angus, was jailed for eight months at Perth Sheriff Court last week and banned from driving for four years.

Sheriff William Wood described his conduct as a ‘significant hazard’ and a ‘drunken rampage’.
