BAIRD TARGETS TROPHY DOUBLE
JOHN BAIRD reckons Raith Rovers showed Championship class in dumping Partick Thistle out of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Cup.
The veteran striker is targeting his third medal in the competition but he knows that getting up from League One is massive for the Kirkcaldy club.
He helped St Mirren win in 2005/06 and scored the winner against Rangers in 2014 in his first spell in Kirkcaldy.
A third medal would be lovely but he wants to double it up with promotion after Friday night’s
2-1 victory at the Jags.
He said: ‘We have the target of winning this cup and the league. We’re going for it.
‘Thistle are a league above us and they’re playing full-time teams most weeks but we showed we could match them.
‘We’ve come to Firhill and won in a semi-final and we deserved it.’
