When I see panic-buying due to Covid-19, I wonder if we have a right to call ourselves ‘Great’ Britain or the ‘United’ Kingdom. Despite Government appeals for us to stop stockpilin­g, selfish people, with no considerat­ion to the vulnerable, are doing the exact opposite.

With so many things being cancelled, might I suggest suspending trading on the stock market? The virus is bad enough without spivs in the City profiting from betting on shares falling, as our pension funds take a pounding.
