...But it doesn’t look like this lot took any notice!

WITH pubs and restaurants now shut down, crowds flocked instead to Scotland’s ski slopes yesterday.

The car park was almost full at Cairngorm Mountain, which is due to shut today.

The Lecht 2090, in the Cairngorms near Tomintoul, was also open yesterday, although the cafe was closed and people were asked to ‘maintain their own social distance at all times’.

Glencoe Mountain is also due to close today, while Nevis Range, near Fort William, Inverness-shire, shut yesterday. Glenshee Ski Centre in Aberdeenshire

will stay open but cafes and ski hire will shut.

Last night, Fort William and Ardnamurchan councillor Niall McLean said: ‘I’ve had constituents saying they’re distressed. We’ve had reports of cars being in the ski centre [at Glencoe] this week with Italian registrations. Please start thinking about this as a pandemic, not a holiday.’

Andy Meldrum, managing director of Glencoe Mountain Resort, said: ‘We limited the numbers so people are well spaced out.

‘We’ve had no advice that we should be closing.’
