Even programmes without an overt conservati­on message can prompt viewers to seek informatio­n on animals they may never have heard of before.

The researcher­s, from Cork, analysed sites such as Twitter and Wikipedia and found creatures did not have to be a socalled ‘charismati­c species’ in order to attract attention. Just as well for some of the scalier reptiles.
