Now that’s what you call a light show...
UNDER a blanket of stars, the night sky dazzles in glorious shades of green and gold as the Northern Lights put on yet another spectacular display.
The incredible view of the aurora borealis was captured above Stornoway on Friday by former search and rescue winchman Chris Murray. The unpolluted skies over the Western Isles make them among the finest places to see the lights in all their natural glory.
Mr Murray perfectly captured this beautiful snapshot of the light reflecting in the peaceful waters. The aurora – also known as the ‘Mirrie Dancers’ – blankets the skies when the sun’s solar wind collides with the Earth’s atmosphere and magnetic field.
