Make profiteering a crime
I’ve just returned from my local shop, where the manager told me that wholesale delivery and other costs are ‘going through the roof’.
He has just been offered ‘1,000 bottles of hand-sanitiser’ for
£2 a bottle (the little ones!).
I recall that in the Second World War there was an offence called ‘profiteering in time of war’. If, as the Government rightly says, we are now a nation at war with coronavirus, then maybe it should consider reinstating that old ‘profiteering’ maxim.
