Make this Mother’s Day extra special

Today is Mothering Sunday and, with so many places now in lockdown, it could represent a chance to start sharing some quality time with the whole family at home.

Over the next few weeks, you could dig out the board games and play them together, cook something you’ve been meaning to make for ages – or teach someone else how to make it. You could read those novels you’ve set aside, and discuss them with the family. Or maybe start writing your own for the others to read.

You could even hold your own Britain’s Got Talent contest, where every member of the family has three minutes to entertain everyone else.

Above all, make a point of taking an interest in what everyone else is doing because life goes by really fast. Once gyms, pubs and clubs reopen, everyone might go back to doing their own thing. But the memories of this ‘together time’ could last a lifetime. David Goodliff, Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex
