Morton facing tribunal over physio’s grievance

- By Fraser Mackie

MORTON and their chairman, Crawford Rae, could imminently be at the centre of a sex-discrimination and victimisation claim made by former long-serving physio

Alyson Fielding.

It’s understood that she has instructed solicitors to raise the proceedings against both the club and Rae as an individual.

An employment tribunal would then rule on any case brought against Morton, who are currently in seventh place in the Ladbrokes Championship and managed by former Scotland cap David Hopkin.

Fielding, who had worked full-time for the Greenock club for nearly 10 years under five previous managers, resigned from her role in February. She had only returned to work the previous month following a club suspension under investigation after being charged with breaking SFA betting regulations.

The 38-year-old was then handed an eight-game ban at a Hampden hearing for six breaches over a four-and-a-half-year period.

It is common knowledge around Cappielow that Fielding was told by the Morton hierarchy, upon resuming her employment in January, that she was forbidden from entering the dressing room.

Fielding went on to submit a grievance internally at Morton before handing in her notice to quit.
