I’ll see you in court, Becky! WAGs’ war goes nuclear
THE WAG war between Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy is about to go nuclear.
The footballers’ wives are at loggerheads after Coleen accused Rebekah of leaking stories about her last year, and the pair held a video meeting last week in a last-ditch attempt to avoid a very public and expensive court hearing.
But I can reveal they failed to find a resolution.
My well-placed source said: ‘The girls are still no further forward, so it’s now going to have to be heard in court.
‘It’s a shame it has come to this but there is no other way. Coleen has plenty of evidence and she isn’t frightened to show it.’
The women held an online Alternative Dispute Resolution mediation meeting last week alongside their lawyers after it was claimed Becky, 38, wife of Leicester City and England striker Jamie Vardy, threatened to sue Coleen for libel.
Coleen, 34, whose husband Wayne is now playercoach at Derby County, is thought to be countersuing for breach of privacy.
The astonishing row began last October when Coleen revealed details of her investigation into the source of a series of stories about her family. In a ploy that earned her the nickname ‘Wagatha Christie’, the mother of four said she planted fake stories on her private social media accounts, then blocked all of her followers except Becky to see if any of the tales were leaked.
It sparked an extraordinary war of words between the pair and Coleen’s close pals insist she won’t back down, saying: ‘She has the evidence – it’s all there. It’s a case of “bring it on”.
‘Her evidence is absolutely bulletproof and she stands by it all.
‘Obviously it isn’t ideal but Coleen will follow it through. She’s the one in the right here.’
