Bambi, on Buchanan Street...!
IT IS one of Scotland’s busiest streets, usually bustling with shoppers and buskers.
But with the city centre deserted due to lockdown, a very unexpected pedestrian was spotted roaming along Glasgow’s Buchanan Street – a roe deer.
Early morning passers-by filmed the animal as it pottered down the road.
It is thought the deer worked its way through the streets from Glasgow’s Necropolis on Friday morning. One local worker wrote on social media: ‘Still can’t get over the fact there was a deer outside my work on Buchanan Street at six o’clock this morning.’
Some commented on the post with other images of deer roaming free through the city’s residential areas and suburbs.
As humans have remained in their homes during the coronavirus crisis, wildlife has seized the opportunity to explore urban environments.
Pine martens have been seen running down the road during the day in Scotland, while in Wales a herd of 120 Kashmiri goats descended on Llandudno from their hillside range.
Moles, stoats, weasels, golden eagles, lapwings, skylarks and urban foxes have also reportedly been discovering a newfound freedom since lockdown began.
