Long game of show us the money
IN the need to find solutions to the economic problems facing football in this country, it is to be hoped the Scottish Government might look favourably on providing the senior game with financial support.
There might be one minor issue with that, though. The longest-running public petition at Holyrood — entitled ‘Improving Youth Football in Scotland’ — lists one of its key objectives as establishing a full audit on every penny of public funds distributed by the SFA to its member clubs in the past.
That petition was lodged in March 2010. From the looks of things, it is still waiting for answers.
