SPRING SIX NATIONS? LET’S GIVE IT A TRY
GOOD news for anyone who has ever found their bottom frozen to a plastic seat in sub-Arctic conditions while watching a Six Nations match at Murrayfield.
The fixtures, which kick off in
February, have often been held during horrendous conditions.
However, a plan is hatching for the Six Nations and Sanzaar teams – South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Argentina – to play internationals at the same time, likely April or May.
Aimed at improving player welfare and helping clubs to manage international commitments, it’s a scheme that’s been mooted before but never come to pass.
As a passionate Scotland fan, I for one would be delighted to see the boys in blue – led by captain Stuart Hogg – take the field at a slightly later date, not least so I can feel my hands as I clap them on.
