Springwatch 2020

BBC2, 8pm There’s nothing like the cosy comforts of Springwatch, and as the team returns for a three-week run, even the constraints of the lockdown can’t prevent them from providing the nation with an inspiring glimpse of the beauty of the season.

The social distancing rules that stop the presenters gathering together ensure we can see nature at work in the different parts of the country where they are holed up.

In the first of four episodes on consecutive nights this week, Chris Packham (right) brings us close-up views of the riches of the New Forest, Iolo Williams is at his home in Wales and Gillian Burke reports from the Cornwall Beaver Project, while guest Steve Backshall is on the banks of the Thames.
