Don’t let the Left divide us

It was hoped that this crisis would bring us together as a nation. Instead we are now seeing a rerun of Brexit, with Remainers campaigning for lockdown to continue – to the detriment of our economy, mental health, children’s education and general wellbeing – while Leave supporters want to use their own common sense to determine what they can do safely and what they can’t.

As this newspaper’s Comment column correctly stated last week, the Left must not be allowed to cynically use the crisis to promote their agenda.

Sir Keir Starmer wants to stop the war against the virus and declare war on the Government. So let’s waste months on inquiries rather than fighting the real foe.
