Orkney, Ness of Brodgar
One of my favourite places and thought to date back to 3,300BC. Archaeologists have only known about it and been exploring it for a short time and it’s as significant a discovery as the Valley of the Kings.
It has rewritten our understanding of the neolithic period or new Stone Age, not just in Scotland or in Britain but in europe.
It has opened another door and given us a whole other look at the neolithic that we’ve never had before. So it’s a place of extraordinary, world-class significance.
