Belated quarantine proves PM’s ‘top team’ can’t cope

-

Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary has bravely stated what many are asking of Home Secretary Priti Patel – why quarantine international travellers now, when the infection rate of coronavirus is decreasing?

You reported last week that dentist Dr Minesh Talati is suing Health Secretary Matt Hancock and Public Health England over the Covid-19 death of his father. I think he should remember this is a disease that has never been encountered before.

Dr Talati said his claim was not for financial purposes. Many people have lost loved ones to the virus but aren’t turning to the courts.

I loved your picture last week of the overcrowded beach at Durdle Door in Dorset. Looking at the masses of people, my son said to me: ‘Hey, Dad, where’s Wally?’

My answer had to be: ‘Well, son, it’s all of them.’

The UK airline industry has been hit hard with the impact of Covid-19, with some seeking possible Government bailouts. However, the Government should consider one viable alternative, in the form of state ownership of the airlines.

I for one would like to see Government ownership of the airlines for the sake of jobs, and protecting a vital industry for our economy. Such a move could return this sector to national greatness.

Since touching people, handles, tables, doors, clothes, TV remotes, taps, cutlery and just about everything else is fraught with danger these days, I’m restricting myself to touching gestures. I brought tears to three people’s eyes last week.
