A new hope
Sir Keir Starmer taking over as Labour leader has brought me renewed hope for the UK.
The difference at Prime Minister’s Questions between mumbling, stumbling, one-track Jeremy Corbyn and the forensic and direct Sir Keir is stark. What possessed Labour Party members to elect Mr Corbyn in the first place? This flirtation with the far-Left caused incalculable damage to centrist politics, encouraged nationalism and gave Boris Johnson all the momentum (no pun intended) he needed.
We need the same kind of Labour overhaul in Scotland, with a clear pro-UK line. When necessary, they must put aside tribalism and join with others to oppose the real enemy – nationalism. Alexander McKay, Edinburgh
