Coleen won’t sue Rebekah … all because of Covid

- By Katie Hind

COLEEN ROONEY has ditched plans to sue rival WAG Rebekah Vardy for breach of privacy, in a bid to avoid a costly court case over their social media spat.

Coleen, 34, had considered the counter action after Rebekah announced she was suing her in a £1 million defamation lawsuit.

But mother-of-four Coleen, wife of former England footballer Wayne, has changed her mind, feeling it would be in bad taste at a time when the coronavirus pandemic has left many struggling financially.

The saga began in October last year when Coleen accused Rebekah of being the source of media leaks about her.

Coleen attracted the nickname Wagatha Christie after she revealed her sleuthing methods – which included posting false stories about herself on her Instagram page and ensuring the details were visible to only one other account.

When one of the stories was published, she made a dramatic public accusation with a post concluding: ‘It’s… Rebekah Vardy’s account.’

Rebekah, 38, wife of Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, denies it and refuses to halt her action. Insiders

fear that a High Court case could cost them more than £500,000 each.

One said: ‘Coleen has tried to explain how bad this looks but Becky isn’t having any of it.

‘It’s now going to look like two spoilt women who have far too much money, arguing over something that is trivial in comparison to what is happening in the wider world.’

Last month the pair failed to reach an agreement during a video conference alongside their lawyers.
