country band The Dixie Chicks have dropped the ‘Dixie’ in response to the Black Lives Matter campaign. The multi-award winning Texan group, pictured, took the name in reference to the Confederate Southern states during the US Civil War.

The change leaves the female line-up to be known simply as The Chicks, which might strike some as, well, a bit sexist in this day and age.

Which could be a problem − if they end up dropping the ‘Chicks’ as well, the band name The The has already been taken.
