Billion Pound Cruise Industry: All At Sea

ITV, 9pm Ordinarily, the biggest worry about going on a luxury cruise would be putting on weight from the abundance of food. That all changed earlier this year as the sudden emergence of the coronavirus pandemic turned dream holidays into a nightmare.

This disturbing documentary follows events as passengers fell ill on ships all over the world. Among those interviewed are Sally and David Abel, a retired couple who found themselves in the news when they were stricken with the virus on board the Diamond Princess (right). It was eventually quarantined with its thousands of passengers and crew members in the Japanese port of Yokohama.

The Abels are now, thankfully, recovered, but the experiences they and others share here make it uncertain when the cruise industry will get back to normal.
