Yes Esther, BLM is used to divide us
Esther Krakue intelligently and eloquently questioned the aims of Black Lives Matter in her powerful article last week. She said that people are trying to divide this country and are using groups like BLM to do it. Esther, below, stands by hard work, honesty, humility, the
truth and judging people on the content of their character – strong values I believe the silent majority hold here. Pamela Jean, Windermere
Esther noted that Black Lives Matter’s GoFundMe page states that it wants to dismantle capitalism, and I agree with her: what on earth does defending black lives have to do with dismantling a system that has lifted millions of people out of poverty? S. Martin, West Sussex
By emphasising people’s skin colour, as the BLM movement seeks to do, we are taking a backward and divisive step. We should continue to relate to each other as Martin Luther King wished - not by the colour of our skin but by the content
of our character. John White, Swansea
What a balanced view you ran from Esther last week about the way ‘movements’ get taken over to go in different ways from original objectives. I feel that when we use labels ‘black’, ’white’, ’Muslim’, ’Jewish’, etc, we are starting down the road to racism. Why use a description at all? We are all people. Terry Nixon, Manchester
Esther speaks for the majority in our great country. Wynn Jones, Llantwit Major, Wales
