This spud you’ll like, Meghan…

-

MEGHAN Markle is in line for the ultimate in prestige: a spud named in her honour.

An American entrepreneur has applied in the US to trademark a line of fruit, veg, flowers and herbs called HRH The Duchess of Sussex New Jersey.

Meghan herself is banned from using her title for commercial purposes. But that does not stop others, such as Karam Amnau, from New Jersey, who has filed documents with the US Patent and Trademark Office asking for permission to protect the phrase: HRH The Duchess of Sussex New Jersey.

She’ll be in good company if we start seeing Duchess spuds alongside King Edwards on the supermarket shelves.
